parking on double yellow lines, but not the whole vehicle (!)?

Question: just received a parking ticket for parking on double yellow lines. couple of points: 1) only a third of the vehicle was actually on the double yellow lines - the rest was in a valid space - any ideas if i have a valid case to appeal 2) the double yellow lines in question do not adhere to the governments advice on double yellow lines - i.e. incorrect width, incorrect distance away from the kerb etc. any ideas on whether or not it is worth appealing... any advice would be most welcome. cheers

Answer: 1) Utterly irrelevant. You only have to 'cover' part of the double yellow lines to be guilty of a parking offence. Not worth appealing. 2) If you can PROVE in a court of law that the lines do not adhere to the government's regulations, then you MAY have a valid case for appeal.
