Read details first, I'm looking for a new cell phone, what should I buy?

Question: It's been awhile since I've owned a cell phone, here's my situation: I'm in the Air Force, stationed in Japan, going to Korea next year, planning on visiting the U.S. every year. I'm sure that I will be going back to the desert (Iraq, Afghanistan) at some point. I want a cell phone that will work ANYWHERE in the world. I was planning on getting the plan and phone in the US before going overseas. I heard there was a card you can put in the phone that will enable it to work world-wide.

Answer: You will not find a cell phone that will work anywhere in the world... sorry the Japanese networks are not compatible with world phones... I'm in Japan right now and the cell phone plans suck... you pay about 6000 yen for 40 minutes a month... it's free text messaging and incoming calls are free... but none the less you will not be able to have one American cell plan and use it over in Japan... 6000 yen is roughly 60 bucks..... japanese cell phone plans suck.. i live in Japan.... if you are stationed here in japan you should already know this.
