What accessories do I need to hook up a Pocket-Wizard Plus II transceiver to a Speedlite 580ex flash?

Question:

Answer: The Pocket Wizard has a sub-mini female jack in which you can plug in a male sub-mini plug. You can also plug in an adapter that converts that female jack into a female PC outlet, (same PC outlet found on most SLR's and all medium format cameras). If you have a 580EX you'll need to get a PC cord from the flash to the Pocket Wizard (with the PC adapter plugged into the Pocket Wizard). The only way you can do this is by using a "hot shoe to PC" adapter on the foot of the Canon flash. This piece will have a PC cord coming out from the "hot shoe" which then plugs into the transceiver's input jack (with the female PC adapter being used). If you have a Speedlite 580EX II, this newer model HAS a PC outlet in which you will NOT need the "hot shoe to PC" adapter. You'll simply attach a PC cord to the side of the flash to the Pocket Wizard. You must check with the folks at Mamiya Group, distributor of Pocket Wizard, here in the States. They can help you with the sub-mini to PC adapter as well as various configurations of PC cords to be used with the Pocket Wizard.
